Last year Ducklings Nursery completed the Lancashire County Council “Step into Quality” programme and the team recently attended a Celebration event to receive their award.
Step into Quality provides an opportunity for practitioners to spend focused time looking at what they do everyday and considering which parts work well and which could be improved upon. Step into Quality is underpinned by the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage and the National Quality Improvement Principles.
Commenting on the award, Nursery Leader Janet Dawson said, “Step into Quality was great to do as it involved the whole team reflecting on provision and practice, across eight ‘steps’. It was a good opportunity to look at areas which have a positive impact on the setting and support staff development and to get input from the children and parents. We were delighted to see how far we have come since we increased to full-time in 2010
This adds to an exciting year for us as we celebrate being open for 40 years and are planning a big celebration in July – 40 Years of Learning, 40 Years of FUN!
We won’t be sitting back though and are already well on with the Lancashire Quality Award – as they say, quality is a journey, not a destination”.
